A High-Performance Audio Upgrade

Located in the Vienne region of France, the city of Châtellerault has built its reputation on centuries of industrial heritage. Once home to the historic Royal Blade Manufacturing facility, the city is now recognized as one of the most dynamic industrial hubs in the region.

With a strong commitment to modern infrastructure, the municipality set out to upgrade one of its flagship sports venues — the Châtellerault Multi-Purpose Sports Hall — transforming it into a high-performance, future-ready facility.

A Versatile Sports and Events Venue

The sports hall hosts training sessions and home games for local basketball and handball clubs, while also serving a wide range of sports associations and community activities. Designed as a central hub for the local community, the venue provides residents with a fully equipped, permanent sports facility supported by an on-site technical team.

The hall also accommodates major sporting galas and special events, requiring a powerful, precise, and reliable professional audio system capable of delivering outstanding sound performance in all configurations.

A Cutting-Edge Sound System Installation

Audio integration specialist Scène de Nuit, based near Tours, was selected to deliver the venue’s new sound reinforcement system. Romain Gavilan, Integration Project Manager, entrusted Lens Audio with the technical design and commissioning of the solution.

The installed system features high-performance NEXO equipment:

• 3 × P18 and 2 × ELS18 for the main stands
• 2 × P15 and 2 × ELS18 for court-facing coverage
• 3 × P12 for on-court monitoring
• Powered by one NxAMP4×4-mk2 and one NxAMP4×1-mk2 amplifier

This configuration ensures powerful, consistent, and intelligible sound coverage throughout the entire venue, meeting the demanding requirements of both sports competitions and live events.

Precision, Calibration and Performance Optimization

Beyond system design and technical documentation, Lens Audio supported Scène de Nuit’s installation teams throughout deployment and carried out full acoustic calibration of the system. The AMIX sound level meter-display was also precisely configured to guarantee optimal sound control, compliance, and performance.
